Clubs

 

Teachers run a range of afterschool clubs for children at Lent Rise. Clubs run either termly or half-termly if the club is very popular. We also have several providers who run activities from School.

Clubs and Activities running in the Spring term  

We have had lots of feedback from children and parents and to reflect this and support our drive to help encourage children to improve their fitness the Key Stage 2 clubs this term are all themed around:

Monday Phonics  A fun chance to practice phonics using games, stories, songs and activities. Miss Boxall Early Years and Year 1
Monday Yoga and Mindfulness  An introduction to simple relaxation using yoga and mindfulness. Miss Grella Years 1 and 2
Monday  Mindfulness  A new club to explore mindfulness using puzzles, colouring and activities.  Mrs Rever  Years 3 and 4
Monday Netball Our club runs every Monday (rain or shine!) from 3.15 - 4.15.  We practise netball tactics, shooting and playing games.  We play High 5s Netball and both boys and girls from Year 5 and 6 are welcome to netball club. Mrs Joyce and Miss Ellis Years 5 and 6
Monday Boys' Football

Training involves some skill practices followed by  games at the end. From this squad both the under 10 and under 11 teams are chosen to compete against other schools throughout the Autumn and Spring Term.

Tuesday Lego and Construction  A popular club where our budding model makers can let their imaginations run wild. Miss Johns Early Years
Tuesday Choir A chance to learn some new songs in our vibrant  choir. Mrs Hind Years 1, 2 and 3
Tuesday Science  An exciting club where we make smells, bangs and explore the mad side of science. Miss Enright Years 1 and 2 
Tuesday Art  Children can experiment with a variety of techniques and materials to create beautiful works of art. Miss Burniki Years 1 and 2
 Tuesday Tag Rugby An energetic introduction to tag rugby. Ms Wilson Years 3 and 4
Wednesday Film  Film Club is part of a national programme to get children more interested in film. Each week we watch a different film and write a review, as well as entering lots of competitions.  Mrs Anderson and Mrs O'Brien  Years 5 and 6
Thursday Craft  Messy making for our Early Years children. Mrs Reeve Early Years
Thursday 3D Design  Using ICT we will explore the possibilities of design.  Mr Waldeck Year 2
 Thursday Eco   A small club where we get to spend time in the eco garden, planting vegetables and learning about nature.  Mrs Springford Years 4 and 5

Cross Country

 A new club for children who want to challenge themselves and improve their fitness through running. Mrs Joyce and Mr Harman Years 5 and 6
Friday Ballet A fun introduction to ballet for young children - led by experienced dance professionals. We welcome boys and girls and offer opportunities for parents to watch at the end of the term. This is an external club organised through the Karen Robinson School of Dance. There is a charge for this club. Karen Robinson School of Dance Early Years, Year 1 and 2
