Sports Premium Funding 2015- 2016
The government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. Each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year for the next two years as identified in the census for January the previous year.
Sports Premium Funding Allocation expected for 2015-16 £9,800
In 2015/16 we will be using the funding in the following ways:
- Participation in the Bucks Sports Partnership Arrangement
- Training of new PE Subject Leader
- Continued development of new P.E and Games assessments to build existing assessments resources to record and ensure pupils make progress in their learning.
- Staff professional development through team teaching opportunities with expert practitioners – dance, gymnastics, rugby, football and swimming
- Specialist and comprehensive P.E first aid training for staff.
- Specialist P.E equipment, play and leisure equipment.
- Access to the school outdoor gym to all children before, during and after school.
- Develop opportunity for additional daily physical activity sessions with a view to 'a mile a day'
The school will continue to commit to:
- To engage and enthuse pupils to participate in high quality, meaningful school competition, supporting them in achieving their personal best in school and life.
- To continue to provide access to a range of opportunities for pupils to take part in competitive and non competitive sports at an intra and inter school level.
- To continue to provide transportation to sporting events.
- To continue to provide opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills and aspects of citizenship through volunteer roles as sports leaders. Sports Leaders support and implement playtime initiatives to support physical activities and play for all students.
- To work with the Bucks Sports Partnership to enhance a range of opportunities for the pupils, including before and after school clubs.
- Support from experienced sports professionals in enhancing the sports curriculum throughout the school.
- To promote a healthy attitude towards being physically active.
- To increase physical activity levels in less active children
- To provide opportunities for young people with limited mobility the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports.
- Purchasing new and exciting sports equipment to engage all students across the school.
To enhance teaching though specialist staff training provision:
- Links with local sports clubs to identify how to support G&T students and to encourage children to attend sports clubs outside of school.
- Key staff to continue to develop Sports and P.E knowledge by attending sports training days.
- Staff training twilight session based on games and executing a whole class game.
- One – to – One work with teachers from each year band over the course of the year to build skills and knowledge.
- Change 4 Life training for support staff.
- Change 4 Life club - focusing on active participation from Year 3 and Year 4 students.
- School Games day to be held for some KS2 year groups at Burnham Grammar.
- After school clubs -football, netball, athletics, rugby
- Sixth Form leaders from Burnham Grammar School to support teachers with implementing sports
- Kitemark support to achieve gold award, focussing on self assessment.
- Cycling skills for Y6
Measuring Impact:
- We have continuation of internal competitions from 1 a year, to 6 competitions a year - one each half term for all children to participate in.
- Continuation of Change 4 Life Club - focusing on Year 3 and Year 4 children to promote a love for an active and healthy lifestyle for life.
- Measuring student involvement in extracurricular clubs and funding clubs to allow access to a variety of sports to all children.
- We are involved in a variety of alternative sports, to allow all children to participate in sports. For example we hold Boccia competitions and enter 'Alternative Sports Festivals' which allows access to all children to participate and compete in sports.
- We now have a Sports Council for children to be involved in leading sports opportunities, attending leadership training, supporting playtime initiatives and supporting the Healthy School Council.
- Monitoring children's ability to successfully swim a minimum of 25m before the end of Year 5.
- Training for pupil play leaders has increased participation of games during lunchtimes.
- Introduction of a lunch time skipping league has increased participation during lunchtime.
- Enhanced teacher ratios for upper KS2 sports lessons provides support for SEN, G&T and all abilities as well as opportunities for regular mini games.
- We use pupil questionnaires to gain feedback from pupils
- We record and monitor students who attend extracurricular clubs and provide invitations where appropriate
- We record and compare competitions and evaluate impact
- Students attend swimming lessons in Year 3, 4 and 5. The school monitors swimming attendance, G&T swimmers and identifies whether children can swim 25m.
- Children will continue to be assessed against the National Curriculum by all teachers to monitor improvement and development in all areas of P.E and Games.
- We have increased sports day sessions to increase participation
- We are trialing additional daily activity to increase fitness levels.
